My husband is 92 and too handicapped at this point to attend services. He has been observant all his life and in our time together I have sat beside him.

I felt the loss of a service today - the rabbis sermon - until I read this beautiful post.

Thank you Elliot - your words move and inspire me. I hope for all the same things in the coming new year.

So much we can learn from other cultures and religions without it taking anything away from our own beliefs and traditions. My parents immigrated from the Netherlands in 1961. I was 10. I grew up 1/2 block away from the Ann Frank house and visited it with my daughter in 2008. We can learn from each culture and religion even if it isn't our own. Happy Rosh Hashanah.
