Early in the summer, we asked all of you about what you were reading and what you might recommend to others. We pegged the query to the season, and the prospects of days at the beach, in the country, or just hanging around home on a languid evening buried in the pages of a great book. It turned out to be one of our most popular midweek conversations. Your suggestions poured in, and they were incredibly insightful. We were not surprised to find out that the Steady community is also a community of serious readers.
So now, even though summer is firmly in the rear-view mirror, we suspect that many of you are still plowing through new lists of titles, be it fiction, nonfiction, travel, graphic novels, mystery, poetry, or any other of the other infinite genres that entertain, educate, provoke, calm, and unnerve us, as only great writing can.
So here we go again. What are you reading? Did you make it through your summer lists? What book surprised you, or even disappointed you? What would you recommend? Did you reread a favorite? We at Steady can’t wait to read your suggestions and thoughts in the comments section.
Fully engaged! Our democracy is too important to be otherwise.
Thank you for asking. After being engaged for all of my adult life save a few years, I am mentally exhausted. We are 9 months into life in Texas after a lifetime as Pennsylvanians. I have yet to become actively engaged with the Texas Democrats. This November is important, but I just can't get past moving 1500 miles and into such a different political environment. Perhaps, I can give myself a short break and resume active membership without feeling guilty. The stakes are so high.
