Trump's dishonest and cowardly draft-dodging has always disgusted me. His failure of a birthday parade disgusts me even more. I can't imagine anyone who actually served being able to stomach the repulsive stack of filth.

The present commander in chief will use anything and anybody to further his own wealth and power, including the Armed Forces of the US. If there were a way to make his time in office a financial disaster for him, he would likely leave of his own accord. I think the elephant in the room on this latest spectacle is the very likely shrinkage of his wedding tackle that the gracekessly aging Lonnie LeDouche has been experiencing for decades. That and his clearly dementia addled pudding brain. Crazy combination...elect a clown, expect a circus. I saw that last on a tee shirt recently. Brilliant!
Dan, as usual, you summarized the parade charade well. I would only like to suggest that a current approval rating of 38% is hardly under water for Trump, in my view. That's well over one-third of voters polled and not that far from 50%!! Moreover, that number hardly budges. Are the progressive media ever going to address the elephant in the room and start questioning democratic strategists?? Let them talk to the possible democratic candidate in Iowa, for a start--he is tough and pragmatic while holding fast to democratic values. The message is clearly not penetrating that large group, as the horrific incident in Minnesota shows: a MAGA (it would appear) person gunned down two Democratic state reps and their spouses, leaving two dead. I despair that the Dems will ever become forward-leaning and project through actions a strong pushback to the constant lies and aggression of the MAGAS.
The military probably would like to defy trump's blantant abuse, but trump unfortunately is the Commander in Chief and has complete power over them, until they stage a military coup.

Although the military takes an oath, it's probably forgotten in ten minutes but here it is.... I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed ...... You'll notice that it begins with the Constitution and not the Prez....
Trump’s open embrace of white supremacy should be deeply alarming. We now have, as the leader of our nation, a blatant racist presiding over a country built by immigrants. Ours is a multicultural society, yet many descendants of immigrants seem hostile to immigration itself. The irony is as disturbing as it is revealing.
Ironic that Trump should have gotten the military parade idea while watching the descendants of the French revolutionaries who beheaded a king march in celebration of the occasion leading up regicide.
And while the fascists have their wasteful parade, I'll be standing in the rain in Nashville to protest: NO KINGS! NO NAZIS! NO FELONS! And if Karma really wants to help me out, it will POUR down rain in D.C. all day!!!
