It is hard to add a “like” to this story - terrifying intervention by the gov into the ‘best of the best” magazine news show. With so many alternative outlets for writers, journalists and broadcasters, will they stay? Will they walk?

What a shame! The network that brought you Edward Morrow.

Good night, and good luck!

Dan. Can’t than you enough. Stay strong in support of journalistic integrity. It’s scary how we are hostage to this unfit administration.

I depend on 60 minutes for good reporting. This Weiss person needs to pull her head out.

The next step for Alphonsi and Stahl, and Pelly is to walk out. I know viewers will follow them to the podcast world or beyond.

Dan Rather: It seems you need a few better sources within your former newsroom. Sharyn Alfonsi wrote a deceptive memo in response to Bari Weiss's decision to hold the story. The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Axios and New York Post all reported that the "60 Minutes" reporters received comments from the White House, Department of State and Department of Homeland Security. They were not granted the interviews they requested, but they got feedback from these entities; the reporters refused to use them in their story. And Alfonsi concealed this fact from the readers of her memo (which she had to know would at some point be leaked to the public). So the government was not silent, and it did participate in this process — just not in the way that Alfonsi would have preferred. Creating a misleading narrative to solicit sympathy for your grievances: Is this a growing mindset within the supposed "gold standard" of journalism? If so, that troubles me much more than an editor in chief withholding a story because she doesn't believe it's ready for publication.

Journalism might subjected in realm of delegates calling the call for the presidency. That independent journalism allows for voicing some realities according to their findings. Via the way of bipartisan and then given that are reasonings is based according studies on broad sense of various disciplines. Mono antitrust is giving power that breeds power distortion w illusionary ego-centric.

This is the moment people pretend is about “editorial standards” when it’s really about permission. If government silence becomes a veto, journalism is done. Full stop.

Alfonsi naming it for what it is matters more than the piece itself. Corporate quiet is how truth gets buried without leaving fingerprints.

Integrity isn’t dramatic. It’s just refusing to play along when the kill switch gets flipped.

This is appalling! I love 60 minutes. I watched it as a kid with my family and always found the stories fascinating and informative. I would hate to see it go away. 😔❤️

I’ll be boycotting 60 Minutes - CBS. Thank you, Dan - appreciate knowing Alfonsi stood up 4 truth.

This is how censorship wears a blazer and calls itself “process.” When a story clears legal, standards, and fact checks five times and still gets killed, that’s not journalism hesitating. That’s power pulling a kill switch and hoping no one notices. Government silence isn’t a veto. It’s the tell. And pretending otherwise is how institutions quietly trade credibility for access while insisting nothing political happened.
