Wonderful message. This is why "Steady" and Dan Rather are paid subscriptions for me.

After reading this message, my first thought was, "Trump depends on his base being misinformed and ignorant. If they weren't, these things would be obvious to them and a sizeable chunk of his base would desert him."

Of course, there are people in his base who do understand what's happening and don't care. "Burn it all down!" mentality.

It's funny how he goes after those he has "tagged" as "criminal" when he is one himself. Yes, I am sure there are undocumented that are criminals just like there are Americans that are criminals.

I believe in immigration BUT I believe in doing it legally. However, I DO NOT believe in what Trump is currently doing (through ICE). Everyone should have due process.

Mr. President you are f'nking with my business. How do I run a business or a farm without employees? STOP those insane ICE raids on our businesses!!!!

Now all we have to do is figure out how to fire vile, racist, naziesque Steven Miller!

I'm late to comments about another reversal, but it's sickening. Just two days later and he has backtracked yet again, now reversing the exemption for agriculture and hospitality workers. This is crazy, hurtful, and wrong in all ways. Maybe when berries are $20 per pint or lettuce is $12 per head, people will listen. A farmer in Napa, CA has already lost 1/3 of his cabbage crop due to workers not showing up for fear of ICE. Hoping people will wake up!

Good point. But it is nothing new to me. I have been warning MAGAS that they better be prepared to get out in the fields and plant, tend and harvest their own food OR starve. There is a severe disconnect between what people buy at the grocery stores and where it comes from. I thought that the shortages during COVID would have taught a lesson to everyone. No, Trump's supporters have amnesia or it it magnesia? .

I love "magnesia" for the MAGA folks. You're so right, there is a disconnect between the grocery store and the point of origin. I was always aware of the cost of food since many relatives were farmers, and we always had a vegetable garden. The pricey TP during COVID should have been a huge lesson for everyone, but it's so much easier to blame "those crazy leftists."

Now that I think more about it, some very smart people have some weird ideas about food. A friend refused to eat the peaches from their backyard tree because they were "dirty" unlike the ones at the store. Okay... And then there's the friend who was horrified when I made pumpkin pies out of an actual pumpkin because, as she said, it needs to be "processed." Yep, I did that. Everyone should have to do a stint on a farm.

Only this president could get away with such shameless hypocrisyβ€”lying, flip-flopping, grifting, threatening, and spewing nonsense on a daily basis. And why? Because the spineless cowards in Congress let him. They’re so terrified for their own safetyβ€”and their familiesβ€”that they’ve surrendered their integrity. But courage isn’t the absence of fearβ€”it’s standing up despite the fear. That’s what it takes to confront a bully, that is the definition of courage. That’s what real leadership looks like. And we’re not seeing any of it.

What a debacle. They swallowed the flood of lies until reality hit home. He torpedoed the bipartisan immigration bill just so he could campaign on the issueβ€”it played well with his cult-like base. But now that he's expected to govern, reality is biting him in the you know what. With his wannabe Nazi deputy, Stephen Miller, turning up the pressure on ICE to round up more scapegoatsβ€”it doesn’t matter if they’re here legally; the right skin color and accent are all it takes to be targeted. And they call them scum?

It's ALL Stephen Miller.....HE holds the cards. The dude who is the mastermind & enforcer behind Project2025! TACO man is just the puppet for the pure EVIL behind the curtain...who, now, presents himself, when dumper does NOT follow Miller's directive.

Peggy Alexander's avatar

Haven't you heard? Trump has already rescinded those orders. Someone apparently got his ear and persuaded him to walk back the order to back off on these immigrants. Typical trump!

Interesting that I have not read/heard this in the news (& I have mulitple news outlets I read every day). Thank you for letting us know! It will be interesting to see how this all plays out due to just HOW much the wealthy will lose via NO employees for agriculture & hospitality!

Since Trump is fully engaged in the "Burn it all down!" mentality that will inevitably destroy the economy right down to the ability of the US to even feed our people, one might wonder, "What does Trump think will happen to him and HIS family?"

Analysis is full of the huge gap between the super-rich and the rest of us. Trump has a religious faith in the power of money. He really believes that he will be able to buy comfort and privilege, no matter what.

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm in the "I-Don't-Know" on this one. It depends a lot on exactly how the coming apocalypse occurs.

There's a beautiful scene at the very end of the apocalyptic nuclear war movie, "On the Beach". The reality that total nuclear war will kill everybody, wealthy or not, has finally penetrated the skull of a man who has a suitcase full of cash. He can't even buy a ride in a taxi. The money scatters away in the wind. And, by the way, I sincerely hope that Musk loses all his money somehow and ends up dying of heat stroke under a bridge.

Trump is as America as it gets. He is doing what has been done to African Americans for the past 500 plus years.

And the next day that was reversed.

That was on STEPHEN MILLER. He's working behind the scenes on immigration. I cringe at the possibility of him putting himself in a far stronger position of authority, if JD Vance ends up occupying the WH. If so, I hope Congress will step up and do the right thing. Congress is very low on the approval scale by the American people. They have only themselves to blame.

MAGGOT does not even know the businesses that feeds his family? In any other family that would seem shocking, but, with MAGGOT, it seems oddly standard operational procedure.

And of course today we hear that the deportations are back on...taco indeed. Thanks for your words on the issue, Dan and all. Of course immigrant labor is the backbone of many of our industries. Chasing away those who do the jobs that white Americans refuse to do is sheer idiocy...but here we are...sheer idiocy.
