Today, we’ll keep the preface to our “A Reason to Smile” brief. Because sometimes there’s not much that has to be said.
All we have to do is quote Ed Sullivan from the video below: “The Duke and Ella.” How many better introductions have there been in the history of American music? Not many. Really, is there anything more to say?
It goes without saying that we’re talking about the great Duke Ellington and the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald performing his infectious megahit “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing).” If this ain’t a reason to smile, then what is?

Old lady here rocking out in my hospital bed. He was grooving and look at his joy in her! I burst out laughing! Anytime you want to put another of this duo on Steady, I’ll be waiting! Thank you! Oh my oh my!
Unfortunately, today it is almost impossible to smile. The lingering stench of the myriad "thought and prayers" by politicians refused to dissipate. Some of the excuses being made for the shooter are an outrage. I guess it will take the murder of someone close to these "holier-than-thou" politicians to produce a real solution. In 2020 they tried to scare us with "they want to take your guns" and we replied "oh no we don't want that."
I have changed my opinion - YES I want to take your guns. I want this madness to stop. I don't want to ever see a photo of an innocent child who was just murdered by a weapon that never should have been in the hands of a lunatic.
Let's be serious about this epidemic - the vaccine we need is the eradication of unnecessary firearms. The Constitution does not guarantee the right to bear automatic weapons. If you think it does, then you most likely failed grade school English class. Forming a militia is not the same as playing at
"Special Forces." Weapons of war belong in war. We need a way to find peace.
