The joyful opening, with the brilliant and humane speeches, the reading session by President Obama and the First Lady to the elementary-school children, the beautiful space dedicated to everyone but the Obamas were all reasons to feel elated that we have had, and will again have if we're lucky and do our part, public officials who take their duties to the public, to the Constitution, and especially to those who cannot speak for themselves, most seriously. At the same time, they can do it with humor and grace.
Simultaneously a joyous yet painful reminder of what can be. A president and first lady with class, intelligence, compassion, and humor. Please vote in November to help bring us closer to recovering that.
I am reminded of the classic masks of tragedy and comedy. What we are enduring right now is the tragic. The Obamas were ... not comedy, although there were laughs, but certainly more lighthearted and yet more noble. There is nothing lighthearted or noble about the Trump administration. Oh, comedians and pundits find plenty there to joke about, but there is a sad abundance of riches. I would just as soon have more intelligence and compassionate humanity. I think the Obamas gave us that. I hope the next administration will as well.
Thank you, Dan. It is important to say that the current person sitting in the White House will never have the same dignity, class, education and love that is bestowed on the Obamas nor the other Presidents and wives and the many other people who were in attendance.
You always impress, Mr. Rather. I no longer get live TV or listen to what passes as news, but will always listen to what you pas on or say, because there is truth and accountability
Thank you Dan for sharing this! It gives us hope that some day soon we will return to this type of country, that it will not be so destroyed that we cannot reclaim it.
The Obamas are a class act, folks who make us all want to be better people.
You also were a class act at CBS News, in everything you did there, from covering major news events to the reporting you did on 60 Minutes.
The Obamas set a standard for us as citizens of a democracy on our responsibilities as citizens and to try to make our country a better place. Your and the other incredible journalists who were at CBS News back in the 1960s, 1970s and beyond showed us a standard of journalism to aspire to. I am currently reading Roger Mudd's book "The Place to Be" and getting further incite into the joys and challenges of what you all had to deal with when you had support of the CBS brass. Hopefully after the elections in November we will be slowly on our way back to a democracy for all.

It was truly an amazing experience to remember a better time!
❤️
I really miss having a president who could speak in complete sentences.
Let LOVE lead the way!!!!!!!!!!!
So lovely. A breath of fresh air. And hope.
I was reminded that Hope is alive.
Looking forward to going to see their masterpiece in Chicago! Ty for everything
Wow! My heart is filled with words of Hope, Integrity, inclusiveness and Perseverance. Thank you! Just what we needed! ♥️🎶♥️

You certainly made me smile! That was amazing.
I watched the dedication and it made me so joyful and proud.
The contrast between President Obama and Trump is so vast that they don’t even seem comparable species.
God bless the Obamas!
Thank you Dan!
