We have Beto O’Rourke to thank for the high turnout. Give him the credit he deserves. He has worked tirelessly. Thank you Beto.

As the primary season rolls across the country like a restless wind through the fields, some Republican incumbents are beginning to see the horizon of their time in office drawing closer.

For those leaders, these final months may offer a rare and meaningful chance to stand tall for the country they once promised to serve.

By choosing courage over calculation, by protecting democratic norms and working with colleagues across the aisle in United States Congress, they could help steady the course of the nation during uncertain times.

There’s a quiet belief that even near the end of a journey, a person can still do something beautiful for the place they call home.

Jasmine Crockett did her own polling and she seemed positive she would win. She did not. This goes to show that independent polling does not show how someone is going to do in the end. She might have done much better if she had made a third run for her Representative District in the US House of Representatives. Anyway the takeaway seems to be that Texas as a whole is not really ready for her to be in The US Senate. I am glad she did not choose to challenge Talarico in the general election. It could have split up the vote so much that the Republican opponent could win the race by less than 50% of the total by getting the greatest percentage of the vote in a three or more way race. I am concerned even with Talarico in the general election race multiple candidates may try to run in the general election to try to stop Talarico from winning The US Senate race in Texas in the general election of 2026.

Jasmine Crockett is a treasure, she is vital to We The People and must not be forgotten, left unemployed or behind. Keep her in the fight!

Everyday now, I wear a pin that is a multi-colored heart that says Embracing Hope. I bought it at a Penzeys Spice store. Check out their website. Clearly, founder and CEO, Bill Penzey is exceptionally unhappy with the state of our union. Anyway, as the pin I wear says, I’m embracing hope. But you are correct, Dan, we can’t put too much confidence in the recent primaries. As a wise baseball icon, Yogi Berra, once said, “It ain’t over til it’s over.” So, in the meantime, we’ll just have to be calm and stay steady.

Just know that for trump regardless of the outcome he is victorious before the event begins. So, he is dead ready to claim a great victory at any point. Roy Cohn's reincarnation learned to claim victory regardless of what happens. Just think John and Jane competitor after a competition they stand at the finish line finishing not first but raising their arms claiming victory. That is Trump, everyone see what a fool, claiming viictory after a clear defeat. He needs to beleive that his cult will believe anything he says.

I am not happy that some white man with a Christian preacher's degree can so easily beat an extremely intelligent Black woman using a stupid line about being "a better Christian". American voters, especially in the South, has always picked the easy going fake politician. Bless your little hearts, and little minds.

I too do not like any religion brought into the election process. I would rather vote for a non believer!!!!

Dan, one thing important thing about North Carolina primary elections is that unaffiliated (independent) voters can choose which party primary to vote in. (I have been a precinct election official for 15 years) so we don’t know if the independent voters who chose the democratic ballot will vote that way in November. It is also interesting to note 35 percent of Republican voters did not vote for Trump’s preferred candidate Michael Whatley

I think this qualifies as a Ratherism. :-)

Thanks, Dan for reminding us to build the momentum. We are stronger in community. Hats off to James Talarico and a huge pat on the back for Jasmine Crockett.

Politics is always a long game. Trump knew this, from 2011-2020. Covid made him forget and his brain fog has only gotten worse. The first Presidential Debate of 2024 was his swan song, and only because Joe Biden's brain fog was so much worse that night. James Talarico is dead right: "A little bit of hope is a dangerous thing." So is a wounded bear. Stay the course, and win primaries, week by week.

Dan…you’re right about one thing in that the American people are helpless in doing anything with the mob boss, but if you think that by putting more democrats in the White House is going to change things good luck! You should know by now that they all make these big promises to get there and then just like the rest of them they sit on their fat asses and do nothing! Just like the mob boss they will take care of their ego and a nice big bank account from their secret little deals behind closed doors.

My thoughts exactly!

I think one of the reasons Trump is in the White House now is that many took the attitude "It doesn't matter who gets elected, everything will be the same."

Indeed, there are many who would like all of us to think this, so they can get everyone to stop paying attention to politics. And then, guess what, we're in an authoritarian regime. And how did we get here?

If we're looking for quick and transformative change, it can certainly look as though nothing we do matters. I think for the most part to think a country can change so dramatically and so quickly is a bit of fantasy. And the older I get, the more I'm drawn to politicians who talk about incremental changes. Trump promised the moon and the stars, and of course he didn't deliver.

The situation we're in right now, like most in life, is messy and complicated. And no one really knows how it's all going to turn out. And perhaps the not knowing is the hardest part.

To be sure, the Democrats are FAR from perfect. But right now I'd take them any day of the week and twice on Sunday over the current administration. If there's a better third option out there, I'm all for it.
