If they were serious about cutting costs, they would have started with the largest waste in the US budget, the unaccountable Defense budget. But they won't because that is a spigot of profit for the oligarchy.
The "defense" budget has only been used as an offense budget for the past century. It could be reduced by 80% and still provide "defense".

The most important lesson Trump learned from his first term was it is easier to subvert he government from the inside than from the outside. When he pardoned the January 6th participants he essentially released Trump’s small private army, similar to the Sturmabteilung (SA). While the Proud Boys and others, like the SA, may be involved in some violence for a period of time; the real goal is clearly for the FBI to be overtaken by the President and for the FBI to become like Himmler’s Schutstaffel (SS). Once the FBI is corrupted, the newly formed FBI/SS will effectively become a private army controlled only by Trump and his co conspirators. The gutted FBI may be directed for some period of time by Kash Patel, if confirmed.; but the real fight will occur when Pam Bondi or Elon Musk try to wrest control of this private army from Patel. A private army is an incredibly powerful and necessary tool for a dictator to terrorize and control the domestic population, as we saw in Nazi Germany before and during World War II. Given Musk’s invasion into US citizens’ private information, he may be in a stronger position than Bondi to overtake control of the FBI/SS. We will have to wait to see who will become like the “ever faithful Heinrich Himmler” in the Trump administration. It would be reassuring to believe that the situation we are currently in could be resolved with talking and legal action. Sadly, there is little possibility this situation will be resolved without violence. What is certain is that, once in power, tyrants like Donald Trump will resort to violence, whenever needed, to hold on to power. The real question is whether FBI agents and/or members of the United States Armed Forces will fire without hesitation on United States citizens when asked to do so by the President, or his agents. What is virtually certain is that eventually they will be asked to do just that.
On February 3, 2025, several Democratic members of Congress were denied entry to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) headquarters in Washington, D.C. Federal law enforcement officers blocked the building's doors, restricting lawmakers' access even to the public lobby.
This incident occurred after Elon Musk, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration, announced that President Donald Trump had agreed to shut down USAID. Following this announcement, USAID staff were instructed to stay out of the agency’s headquarters, and many employees reported being locked out of the agency's computer systems.
In response, Democratic lawmakers attempted to enter the USAID building to seek answers and express their opposition to the agency's closure. However, they were turned away by security personnel. Despite being denied entry, these Congress members addressed a crowd of protesters outside, vowing to continue their efforts against the shutdown.
This is an issue of responding to a novel, executive-sanctioned wedge of power with an institutional power to resist that power by legal or administrative means.
If the interlopers were Spetznaz, the military would have an immediate response to prevent a security breach. Musk's group is a novel approach to illegal data manipulation, particularly the lack of security clearance and administrative permission.
Could a democracy-oriented millionaire fund a joint effort with Washington DC to hire the ex-FBI agent experts on public corruption to provide an immediate response to this novel approach? These are experts that know much more than the 'saboteurs' and can quickly mobilize the legal machinery to prevent unauthorized activity with our data.
Let's call it the "Government Compliance Force" or the "Inspector General Delta Force."
