Of all the problems with ICE, the most obvious problem I see is no chain of command.

The military chain of command is a structured, hierarchical line of authority and responsibility through which orders are passed down—from the President (Commander-in-Chief) and high-ranking officers to subordinates—and through which reports flow up. It ensures accountability, efficiency, and disciplined execution of tasks, with each member reporting directly to one supervisor. These guys are just hoods!!

First of all, I'd be a lot more comfortable with the assertion that "most cops are good cops" if they called out their peers for the brutal and illegal actions being committed, regardless of agency or intra-agency operations. Second, let's take a minute to thank the then 17 year old Darnella Frazier, the girl who held her phone cam on the murder of George Floyd. Her INCREDIBLE bravery- that of a woman of color, openly defying a bunch of white cops- paved the way for all the MULTIPLE views of the murders today, proof without which the facist regime could attain ultimate power. Goddess love everyone out there also braving the goons and the cold 💙Peace

RIP RENEE GOODMAN & ALEX PRETTI 🙏💔🙏. We will continue to carry the torch!!!

It’s heartbreaking to witness AGAIN The AUTHORITARIAN VIOLENCE Against PEOPLE Living in the USA. First the ice agents who MURDERED RENEE & ALEX MUST BE PROSECUTED. Dan Bovino also should be tried for Dereliction Of Duty ! Tom Holman should ALSO be charged!!

These people were acting like the GESTOPO , not trained ice agents looking for Criminals.

Yes People Please Keep Protesting & Taking Videos !!

But We Need More Done Now !!! For sure djt, jd, Noem Patel, Bondi & Hegseth need to be REMOVED. We Can’t WAIT Until Midterms. We Need FREEDOM & Democracy Restored Now!!

CALL Your Legislators DAILY!! Leave Messages!! Badger them until they do what they were Elected to do = UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION !!!

Thank you, Mr. Rather, for recognizing the courage of Minnesotans in recording all of this and caring for each other. When ICE leaves our neighborhoods, we will clean up the mess, fix the damage to our buildings, care for each other.

No one in our armed forces is required by their oath to obey unlawful orders. I served in Viet Nam.

Amen Dan. Hold the line against the abuses of power. Film it all. Refuse to believe their lies.

Many of us living abroad are also watching the brave folks in Minneapolis!

Once again, Steady has allowed me to remain steady. Horrible happenings in Minnesota-heartbreaking. Mr Rather, well spoken post today - a tribute to the 2 lives lost, countless lives disrupted, and the civil response of Minnesotans. And you remind us that most law enforcement are here to uphold the laws of our democracy.

The foreign media are comparing the United States actions to 1940 Germany

I believe they're calling it as it is.

We are living in a fascist state run by Nazi wannabes.

Having been a lifelong Minnesota Viking fan, I remember the outdoor winter games at Metropolitan Stadium. The people of Minnesota have always been hardy and made the winters part of their DNA structure. You march , protest and show us all how it is done in sub-zero temps..........without the sidline heaters that NFL teams from the south crowded around.

That sick baxxxrd Bovino has been "reassigned" back to El Centro CA. He should be reassigned to jail and be prosecuted.

I respectfully disagree. I’m not sure I can be as generous toward law enforcement as you, good sir knight.

The cops in the smallish, Northern industrial town where I was born and came of age were pretty dirty, largely on the take and on the make for opportunities to supplement their official pay and always keen to indulge in/engage in extracurricular activities that blurred the line between law enforcement and petty criminal activity. I’m white as rice, but I learned early from my black classmates and teammates that cops, while perhaps a necessary evil in a civilized society, at best, are not to be trusted or relied upon unless you have money and/or power, or, ideally, both. My Jew friends and acquaintances, and my more pronounced “ethnic” counterparts in the community nearly universally held similar views. It was, sadly, just the way things were when I was growing up in the 70s and a matter of survival.

Things like what we’re seeing in Minneapolis are largely the logical extension of the “cop mindset”. There’s a “culture of contempt” in place amongst the vast majority of police. Many in the “fraternal order” view “civilians” as little more than either “criminals-in-the-making” or witless stooges. With increasingly militarized police forces around the country, things can only get worse. “Put on the riot gear and go start a riot.” Sad but true, that appears to be the nearly universal approach to police work these days.

A greater focus on “community policing” and a return to beat cops patrolling the neighborhoods in which they live and rear their families, might prove effective counters to the systemic dehumanization of the very people who pay the salaries of those in law enforcement, yet know, fully, that the words “Protect & Serve” apply only to some citizens, no to the whole of the populace.

I remember talking with a past chief here in galveston about why they didnt rush in when bottles were being thrown at them at the end of the night during Mardi Gras one year. He said it was all about de-escalation. We let them tire themselves out - we stayed back where none of us could be hurt. When they were tired and stopped, we went in and arrested only those who needed to be. If we had waded in, it would certainly have escalated - exactly opposite of what we needed to happen. No one got hurt and only those who needed to be arrested were arrested. Very well done.

My guess is many of the ice agents are angry men without the proper training. And that makes for trouble on the streets

There are many ways to bear witness, before, during and after cover the temporal variety, mine tend to cover the personal. Memory is a tricky thing and can lead to confirmation bias but when I reach into my recollection, I find that events that occurred in my childhood continue to shape how I see the world.

And what a childhood. Montgomery, Birmingham, Selma, Vietnam War, Nixon, Ford's pardon all occurred before I was seventeen years old. I know what I saw and I know what I read. It is incumbent upon my age group to bring to light to the younger generations what happened, how it affected us and what we're willing to do now that atrocities are occurring in our country. We don't "have this" any more than we had it as children but we owe something to our country.

I don't exactly what that looks like for each individual but there are as many ways as there are people who care, of which you are one. Thank you.
