Annie Lennox
A Reason To Smile
Annie Lennox is a Christmas baby, which seems incredibly apropos considering how much joy she has brought to the world. She is 2025’s ultimate reason to smile.
Lennox is a classically trained pianist and flutist. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London. Toward the end of her tenure at the school, she realized her heart wasn’t in playing music. She left before she graduated and started singing and writing songs.
At the height of her fame with the Eurythmics, she was tapped to sing a song for the movie “Scrooged,” a modern retelling of Dickens’ novella, “A Christmas Carol.” Bill Murray starred in the dark comedy with a surprisingly sunny theme song.
Lennox duetted with soul singer Al Green on the Billboard-topping pop song, “Put A Little Love In Your Heart.” I dare you to watch this video and not smile.
I had the privilege of interviewing Lennox a few years ago. She is as charming and intelligent as one might imagine. What she had to say about the power of music has stayed with me.
“Music is the language of the soul, it’s the language of the intellect, it’s the language of aspiration, beauty, pain...human emotion.” A perfect final thought to end the year.
Happy birthday Ms. Lennox, and Happy New Year to all!

Dan….great, great choice for the end of the year. She’s a remarkable artist. Maybe if we “had a little love in our heart”, the world would “be a better place”.
Good health and tremendous happiness to all on Steady.
Hopefully 2026 will be a year where America reasserts law and order from the top to the bottom. Everyone, including the president, should be held accountable if they don’t comply with our laws. Happy New Year Mr. Rather and to all of my fellow Americans. Let’s once again become a United Society.
