Well, it’s another Saturday, and we felt you all could use some happiness. Are we right?
At Steady, we often highlight well-known performers in our “A Reason to Smile” feature, but joy comes in many forms and from many sources.
Making music is something we do as a species, the world over. One of its great powers is that it is rooted in human connections — nurtured by a spirit of collaboration. Most people who play music will never earn a livelihood doing so, but that is not what drives them. In music we find beauty, pathos, memories, and hopes for the future. It transports us, even when our surroundings are commonplace.
With all this in mind, we came across the video below. It has a premise that could be the setup for a joke: Two strangers meet at a public piano. But what emerges isn’t a reason to snicker. It is instead a reason to smile, with a touch of the sublime.

Thank you, Dan, for a rare feel-good moment and reason to smile in these otherwise very dark times. That spontaneous duo was a real treat. Pure delight!
It is lovely to be happy with strangers brought together by a common bond. A golden moment.
