Just about every Sunday I take part in something rare. I live in California, but I get to go to Paris for an hour. Using Crowdcast, knitting teacher and wonderful person Franklin Habit offers his patrons "Live from the Workroom." I get to church Saturday evening, but for me the rich Paris gig is more what church should be. Until last Sunday late in the hour when some of the Americans spoiled it with comments about religion. Someone said it's a Christian country. Someone else said it's not a Christian country -- our founding fathers made sure of that!!! Huh? Are they standing on their heads? Do they really think the USA should be only for Christians? What is going on? Franklin is from Chicago and has emigrated to France, seeking eventual dual citizenship, but his followers are international. Of course he looked at the comments and said to stop, stop right now. And I am thinking we have some really trashy, uneducated people in this country. Peopl;e who thought Fox News was news. God help us! I am old and don't have kids. I just vote carefully and pray a lot.

I guess we can just keep our American flags at half staff, nary a week goes by without a mass shooting. This weekend a birthday party and here in KC a 16 year old shot because he knocked on the wrong door. Now the NRA has threatened the GOP to support them or they will STOP campaign funding. Our country has been held hostage for a violence agenda. Republican agenda's soak in that money to the point they are willing to arm themselves and their children for a Christmas photo, guaranteed funding for themselves. Capitolisum needs to learn the word integrity. I feel pathetically inadequate when I see a flag at full staff because I know it will not be there for long, maybe a day or two.

We'll never stop the daily Gun Massacres of Innocents in the US unless the NRA is classified as the Domestic Terrorist Organization it is, is banned & can no longer Bribe Congress, Governors and state elected officials, & stop spewing their lies, propaganda & misinformation. Every GQP politician who blocks effective common sense gun control & an assault weapon ban should be removed from office. They care only about their $$$, and nothing for the millions of people murdered by guns in this country. Gun Control can work - look at other countries. #voteblue2024

So sorry to offend you. I didn't mean anything negative. Just that we do not now know that what we marked on our ballots has been recorded and totaled in the correct column. Several counties in Nebraska did HCPB (Hand Counted Paper Ballots) in the election of Bush to the Presidency. It was the only State out of the eleven "BattleGround" states whose exit polls corresponded right on to their vote count. All the other 10 states showed a 5% discrepancy between the exit polls and the actual vote. Check it out.

Unbridled greed and power hungry miscreants are behind this evil agenda. Only a clean sweep of congress and false media outlets will begin to help us regain our bearings as a great and prideful nation. COURAGE.

Here's what Republican Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger-appointed by President Nixon-had to say about the NRA:

"The Gun Lobby’s interpretation of the Second Amendment is one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American People by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime. The real purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure that state armies – the militia – would be maintained for the defense of the state. The very language of the Second Amendment refutes any argument that it was intended to guarantee every citizen an unfettered right to any kind of weapon he or she desires."

Maybe nothing will change until the families of Legislators and NRA leaders become victims as well . . . . .

Unfortunately we have legislatures across the country from state legislatures to the US Legislature which is called The United States Congress. The United States Congress consists of The US House of Representatives and The US Senate. Anyway both the US Congress and numerous individual state legislatures are under the control of The NRA or The National Rifle Association. The National Rifle Association basically is the lobby arm of the gun manufacturers. The National Rifle Association does not really represent the gun owners as much as the gun manufacturers. The gun manufacturers want to sell guns and gun control laws get in the way of them selling guns. The gun manufacturers want to sell semi automatic rifles because a good percentage of the public wants to buy them. The general public is going to have to make it a mission to vote out every lawmaker, judge, or even an executive official that does not support gun control legislation. If there is a resounding defeat of anti gun control supporters maybe that would signify to the politicians that it would not be a good idea to support the NRA and the gun manufacturers. Remember, neither the NRA nor the gun manufacturers care how many children and other people get killed by mass shootings. The only thing the NRA and gun manufacturers care about is selling more guns, especially the semi automatic rifles.

People from other countries are appalled that our GOP politicians treat mass shootings as acceptable collateral damage for pleasing voters and the NRA to get re-elected. They think that those spouting "America is the greatest country in the world" arevdeliffc

"I love the world but I want to get off." Somewhat of a poor paraphrase of an old trope but it still fits. I am not unhappy but I cannot say I am happy riding on this 'blue dot.' Every direction I look, there is someone trying to direct me, sell me, persuade me, manage me, control me. I don't want your world, to be in it, or even be just part of it. I just want to be me in my world. OK, so I am becoming alone...that's ok. I don't feel lonely but when I sit in the broader, wider world today, I feel like I am being pushed, prodded, directed and shoved. Not important where or which direction. But still so many prodders, pushers, directors and controllers. And if I don't accept what they promote, too often they resort to aggression, sometimes in the extreme. Look at the extreme violence, no matter the gps locations...but guns, knives, military grade weaponry...listen or else. I want to be part of the world but I am not sure about how deeply I want to be there. Cut me some slack world...let me be me. You don't have to love me but please let me be safe and feeling secure though I may be different than you in thought, physical appearance, emotions, and philosophical being. I promise I won't push you, or hate you. I will respect you for being human and having issues too but I won't hate you and I definitely will not violate you...I won't say I love you....but I will say I respect you for being a human being who wants to live life as I do...safely, securely and steadfastly.

RIGHT ON, DAN!!!! WE MUST, MUST, MUST!!! DO SOMETHINGS!

STEP ONE: SEVERE BACKGROUND CHECKS COUPLED WITH FREQUENT RE-CHECKS.

STEP TWO: NATIONALLY BROADCAST LESSONS ON NOT CAUSING OR AUGMENTING SEVERE EMOTIONAL PAIN IN OTHERS. TO UNCONTROLLABLY KILL, ONE MUST BE IN UNCONTROLLABLE PAIN. HOW DOES THE CURRENT AMERICAN WAY FOSTER SUCH AGONIZING PAIN? BY ISOLATING WITH OUR ARCHITECTURE AND AUTOMOBILES, BY SHOCKING WITH OUR HORROR-DRIVEN MEDIA, BY CASTIGATING WITH OUR SCREAMINGLY-LOUD OPINIONS.

I MEAN IT!

IN SO FAR AS WE REMAIN IN OUR OWN ISOLATED SYNICISM DO WE HELP BUILD THE AMERICAN BLAZE OF PAIN THAT PULLS THE NEXT TRIGGER!

EACH OF US MUST CONTINUALLY SOUL SEARCH DEEPLY! CUTTING OFF CONTACT FOR AN INSTANT FROM SOMEONE WHO IS STARVING FOR IT CAN TURN THE TIDE HE'S FEELING INTO AN AVALANCHE OF AGONY. WHAT YOU IMAGINE IS AN UNDETECTED SLIGHT MIGHT BE THE STRAW THAT BREAKS THE CAMEL'S BACK.

THE ONE THING THAT AMELIORATES PAIN IS HUMAN CONTACT ~ TALKING WITH, NOT CUTTING OFF, SMILING WITH, STAYING WITH FOR A MOMENT IF IT'S SOUGHT.

THE MOST PAIN-FILLED AMERICAN ROOM IS THE KITCHEN ~ ABOVE ALL, DON'T CUT OFF SOMEONE'S ATTEMP AT MAKING CONTACT IN THE FAMILY KITCHEN! I WISH THE KITCHEN WAS THE LIVING ROOM. A HUGE TABLE FOR ALL, AND SOME SMALL TABLES FOR FULL CONVERSATION, COMFY CHAIRS FOR STAYING AWHILE, LAZY SUSANS ROTATING WITH GOODIES, LONG COUNTERS WITH COFFEE SERVICE AT BOTH ENDS, SEVERAL DOORS INVITING ENTRY.

IMHO

It has taken me two days to come back and comment, and I still don’t want to read the previous piece again. You see, I am in Louisville, and I guess it’s just hard to explain how your feelings change when it’s “your turn.” I have found myself surprised by the irritation at the attention. Kind of like if you’ve ever been in a car accident and people are slowing down to stare at you. Don’t stare at us, I keep thinking. You don’t really care anyway-you’re just getting your film footage and your sensationalized stories and tomorrow you’ll be on to the next story. If it bleeds, it leads. So just stop it. And then I made the mistake of reading some of the comments on social media from across the country. Everything from “they voted for death” to “that governor is lying about knowing those people to get re-elected.” My God. Do people really suck that bad? During the day I am seeing clients who are afraid to go out in public and educating them about websites that help us learn what to do in the event of an active shooter because it’s all I’ve got anymore. I can’t tell them it will be OK. I’m just tired. I guess that’s normal for a week like this and maybe I will be ready to get back in the fight next week, but for now, you all are going to have to carry the load for me. I need to pull the shades and watch trashy TV. 💜

Send me some articles/stories where people actually have their 1st Amendment rights infringed upon and I will believe. No one should have their constitutional rights stepped on.

I just can't see the need for guns in this day and age. If we lived back decades go in the 1800's, perhaps, going back even further one can justify having guns. However now we have no justification to carry them unless it is for sport. And believe me, you don't need an AR15 to sport hunt.

People so hell bent on canceling abortion and the rights of others to do as they need with their bodies have no right to stand around and let children and innocent people be shot.

This entire gun stupidity, It just tares my heart out.
