RFK and so very many of Trumps cabinet picks have absolutely no business being selected and approved for the positions they were appointed too! How many people have to die before Congress members oust RFK. Trump is failing every U.S. citizen on a daily basis and nothing is being done about it! I am so very scared for our country and the world! With China, Russia and North Korea meeting to take down Trump and his policies we all need to be afraid...very afraid!

Reality check?

Does it still exist?

Fact, if you remember, just because one survived polio didn't mean one was not maimed not only with deformed bodies but shunned by society for the deformations of the disease. And FDR was only president by trying to hide his deformity.

Fact, just because only 3 have died from measles, how many have been, or will, become visually impaired or blinded.

Measuring illnesses only by how many have died, like measuring casualties in war, or after a violent crime, or after a traffic accident, is a very minimal measurement. The impact on society as a whole, or upon individual lives, is never a matter of how many died, or a matter of how many survive, but the total psychological toll of the wider society in general.

Trump hates women and minorities. He despises people that are smarter than him (at least 62% of our population - the remaining 38% are complete morons that voted for him). RFK is a mentally ill moron. Mental illness is hereditary.

Carolyn Kennedy’s statement to the senate at Kennedy’s confirmation hearing should have closed the door on his antics.

Sorry Ambassador Caroline Kennedy

How will the deaths due to these policies be recorded and reported. Doesn’t seem like the government will be willing or even able to do that.

There have always been misanthropes Robert Kennedy Jr in America but the republlican party has made it possible for them to kill Americans.

Do we have independent media left, beyond a few Steady accounts and Reuters or some other foreign company who actually takes a look at what is happening here?

When will the hand wringing stop and the guns come out? Seriously, very serious question. Please address it in a essay Dan.

The christian nationalist (white supremacy) movement definitely is looking for the best way to decrease our population. Making sure our health care is decided by a delusional snake oil charlatan is a sure bet. Between what they doing to the environment, our health care and how they are cutting resources for the poor and disadvantaged, I think will definitely make more elbow room for our billionaires.

That, I fear is EXACTLY what trump et al is hoping and planning! Mass annihilation so there's more lucre for the already obscene number of billionaires! The only thing they, the billionaires, may be worrying about is: who will be left to do the work that keeps America and the world running? After the plans are fully implemented by those who are conspiring with trump and his minions. Wake up!

People are going to die. Our press shrugs. It feels like most people are just not paying attention to this and every other off-the-rails thing this administration does.

(This place restores my hope regularly, so thank you, all.)

It is as obvious as it was predictable. When an unfettered psychopathic capitalist is focused on getting accolades from the monsters he admires, any human not creating a profit for the oligarchy is expendable.

The media? The sycophantic media? They have done such a poor of reporting anything, and are clearly cow towing to this menace. The current administration is out of control, and it seems that there are very few in Congress who have the morals, the ethics, the conscience, courage, or the soul to stand up and say “This is wrong!” I am from Utah wherein our so called “representatives” (Senators: Mike Lee, and John Curtis, Congress folks: Mike Kennedy, Burgess Owens, Celeste Maloy, and Blake Moore) refuse to meet with constituents, and send the exact same non informational form letter in response to every letter of concern they receive. They do not answer their phones, and only know and use Republican rhetoric when speaking to the local media.

Since January we have watched in horror as those in power have steadily destroyed every part of the government that helps the citizenry. None of us has time to sit back and complain, it is time for action. Find a protest to attend on Monday. Speak truth to power and injustice, and dear God, get out and vote these horrendous people out of office in 2026, and especially in 2028–hopefully we will still have right to vote…

Sorry Dan, I got carried away with my heart’s emotions.

Ellen, you took the words right out of my mouth!

Let no one say you sat on your a** when vaccines were about to dissappear. Get out there and take action against Trump’s dictatorship before it’s too late.

As a scientist, an academic, and an American living currently in New Zealand, I am frustrated and horrified for my colleagues and family in America. I know the commitment and years of study and work it takes to generate important science and the importance of using it for the benefit of not only Americans but for people world-wide. The importance of the CDC and its scientists can’t be overstated, so thank you Dan for this column. It has become too easy in all the immoral things that Mr Trump has actioned to overlook the health and wellbeing of people world-wide that benefit from science in the US.
